Mizzou Signs RaeShara Brown To National Letter Of Intent

April 12, 2007

Missouri women's basketball head coach Cindy Stein announced that RaeShara' Brown of Little Rock, Ark., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Tigers beginning this fall.

Brown is a 5-8 guard who was named Tournament MVP of the Arkansas Class 6A State Championship last month as she led Parkview HS to its third title in the last four years. She was named All-State all four years and scored over 1,600 points in her career. She was also a Street & Smith's Honorable Mention selection from 2004-06.

"We are very excited to have Rae Rae join our program," Stein said. "The areas that I was most impressed with Rae Rae are her tenacious defense and competitiveness, and her ability to find a way to score. She is a natural leader and her versatility at the guard positions is an asset to how we want to play next year. Rae Rae is also an extremely gifted student and takes academics very seriously.

"I would also like to compliment (Assistant) Coach Matt Daniel for his diligence in recruiting Rae Rae and finding us another outstanding young woman, student and athlete."

Brown becomes the fourth player all-time from Arkansas to sign with Mizzou and the first since Pine Bluff native Debra Williams transferred from Westark CC and played for the Tigers during the 1997-98 season.

This brings Missouri's total number of signees since the fall period to six. The Tigers' initial five-member class was rated the 25th-best in the nation and second in the Big 12 according to Blue Star Basketball.
