Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri softball team (10-6) extended its win streak to four games with an 8-1 victory over Colorado State (4-8) in game two of the Clarion Inn Lady'Back Invitational at Lady'Back Park in Fayetteville, Ark. The win is junior pitcher Jen Bruck's (St. Peters, Mo.) third of the campaign (3-0).

Bruck held the Rams to four hits, allowing the first Colorado State base knock in the top of the fourth inning. In her six innings in the circle, Bruck struck out two batters, forcing 10 flyouts and six groundouts. Freshman lefty Jana Hainey (Raymore, Mo.) entered the game in the seventh forcing two groundouts and striking out one to end the game

Scoreless through four, the Tigers jumped to a four run lead in the top of the fifth inning. The inning began with a single to left field by Bruck, who scored one out later on senior Alli Kennewell's (Eden Prairie, Minn.) single up the middle. Kennewell stole second and scored Missouri's second run on freshman Julie Silver's (Chesterfield, Mo.) two out double to centerfield. Returning to the top of the order, senior outfielder Leanne Bowers (Arnold, Mo.) reached first on a fielding error by Rams shortstop Robyn Mask, sending Silver to third. Tiger shortstop Andee Allen (Barnhart, Mo.) was next at the palate and credited with two RBI on her single to right field that drove in Silver and Bowers.

Senior second baseman Sarah Stringer (Auxvass, Mo.) scored Missouri's lone run in the sixth inning, advancing home on senior catcher Amanda Jo White's (Tallmadge, Ohio) single to right field.

The Tigers tacked on three runs in the seventh inning on junior first baseman Amanda Renth's (Mascoutah, Ill.) second home run of the season, the 10th of her career. With runners on first and second, Renth crushed the ball deep over the wall in left field giving Missouri its 8-1 lead.

The Tigers will return to action tomorrow, Feb. 24, at 1:30 p.m. (CT) in a game against Arkansas. With rain in the forecast, any delays or cancellations will be posted as soon as possible on www.mutigers.com.
