Baton Rouge, La. - Senior catcher Kathy Masterson (St. Louis, Mo.) was named to the eighth annual Easton Tiger Classic All-Tournament team on Sunday after a successful showing in the three-day event.
Starting in all five games, Masterson went 7-for 12 at the plate, crushing two doubles and a triple while scoring one run and credited with three RBI. Masterson leads the Tigers with a .583 batting average and .917 slugging percentage. Behind the plate, the senior tallied 18 putouts and two assists for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
In Masterson's first at bat of the season, she hit a leadoff triple to right center against Centenary College pitcher Ryan Thacker. In her next appearance against The Ladies, Masterson knocked a one out double to right center, scoring on sophomore shortstop Andee Allen's (Barnhart, Mo.) double.
Masterson notched back-to-back hits in the Missouri's second game of the tournament, an 8-3 win over Middle Tennessee State. Singling in the second and doubling in the third, Masterson was caught stealing in both innings for out number two in both.
The Tigers will host UMKC in a home opening doubleheader Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (CT) in the Dan Devine Pavilion.
