Once Again, Track & Field Treks North

Feb. 7, 2007

COLUMBIA, Mo.--Brrrrrrr... Thankfully collegiate track and field is still in the indoor season, but the recent cold temperatures everywhere in the Midwest is making the Missouri Track & Field squad (and most others) dream of the outdoor-season opener in Arizona. However, much business remains with the indoor regular season winding down. This weekend Mizzou travels to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic in pursuit of those elusive national qualifying marks and, for some, their final feedback before the Big 12 Indoor Championships to be held in Ames in two weeks.

Post-Collegian Corner ...

Last weekend, Tiger post-collegian Christian Cantwell (Eldon, Mo.) had an impressive night at the 100th Annual Millrose Games in New York. Recording his second-best all-time indoor performance, Cantwell took the field with a 71-9¼ (21.88m) toss, reclaiming the meet record in the event. His throw also is the early World's leader for 2007. Fellow American Reese Hoffa was second at 71-7 (21.75m), scaring Cantwell's mark on his next-to-last and final throws.
