Tiger Comeback Falls Short In 76-66 Loss To Huskers

EeTisha Riddle scored 22 points to lead four Missouri players in double figures but the Tigers couldn't overcome a 19-point halftime deficit as they fell to Nebraska, 76-66, on Saturday at Mizzou Arena.

Riddle added a game-high 12 rebounds and three assists for her fourth-consecutive double-double. She had 16 points and eight rebounds in the second half as she scored her 800th career point and now has 818 at Mizzou.

For Missouri (13-6, 1-5), Carlynn Savant had 11 points and five boards with Tiffany Brooks and Jessra Johnson adding 10 points each. Brooks also surpassed the 800-point plateau as Tiger and grabbed the 100th steal of her career.

Nebraska (16-3, 4-1) was led by Chelsea Aubry's career-high 26 points on 11-of-13 shooting. Kiera Hardy had 14 and Kelsey Griffin finished with 10. Both players came into the contest leading the Huskers with 16.1 points per game.

Nebraska shot 55 percent in the game, including a 65 percent showing in the first half that included a 12-0 run over the final 2:15 that turned a 7-point game into a 46-27 Husker lead.

Nebraska led by 23 with 17:26 to play before Missouri began chipping away at the deficit. The Tigers big run came in the form of a 10-0 run which cut the margin to 70-64 with 2:31 left. Following jumpers by Hardy and Riddle, the Huskers got a layup and two free throws to keep the Tigers at bay.

Missouri held a 37-32 edge on the glass and shot 49 percent in the second half.

Missouri will have a week off before welcoming Colorado to Mizzou Arena on Sunday, Jan. 28 at Noon CT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net.
