Hogan and Sellers Named Lathrop & Gage Varsity M Student-Athletes of the Week

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri senior Shannon Hogan and junior Justin Sellers were named this week's Lathrop & Gage Varsity M Student-Athletes of the Week for their exceptional contributions to their respective athletic teams, combined with their strengths in the classroom and time spent in the local community.

A native of Northville, Mich., Hogan is a broadcast journalism major and holds a 3.62 grade-point average. As a member of the Tiger swimming team, Massaro holds the Mizzou 50 freestyle record and was a member of the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams that hold the program mark. In the Big 12 Conference Championships, she placed sixth in the 50 freestyle in 2005 and claimed seventh-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle in 2006. A 2006 Academic All-Big 12 honoree, Hogan was named the team MVP in 2006 and Newcomer of the Year in 2005. This season, Hogan won the 50 free against Kansas and the 100 backstroke against Iowa State. She is the vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

Sellers, a member of the men's swimming squad, holds a 3.35 grade-point average in biology. The Valley Center, Kan., native finished seventh and eighth in the 200 butterfly and 400 individual medley, respectively, at the 2006 Big 12 Championships. Additionally, Sellers placed sixth in the 200 butterfly and eighth in the 400 individual medley and 1650 freestyle at the 2005 Big 12 Championships. An Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2006, Sellers is a Student-Athlete Advisory Council representative.

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Bloomington, Ind., for a meet against Indiana University of Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. The women's squad then closes out the regular season on Saturday, Jan. 27 against Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb.
