Mizzou Announces Sun Bowl Ticket Donation Program

Dec. 11, 2006

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is pleased to announce that it is launching a ticket donation program in which its fans can participate to help send MU students, United States military troops and El Paso charities to the 2006 Brut Sun Bowl.

To further entice people to participate, for every two tickets purchased and donated, fans will be entered into a drawing to win a trip for two to El Paso, Texas to see the game.  Winners will fly on an MU Athletics private charter flight going to El Paso on Dec. 28th and returning after the game on Dec. 29th, and will also have free tickets to the game, as well as free hotel and ground transportation accommodations while in El Paso.  As many as 10 sets of winners will be chosen for the trip package (valued at over $1,500), with one trip for two being given away for every 100 tickets donated by the public.

“This is a great opportunity for our fans to support our football program,” said Director of Athletics Mike Alden.  “With this program, even if our fans can't afford to invest the time and money into taking the trip to El Paso, they can do something for a good cause, while supporting the football program, and they can still possibly win a trip for two to see the game anyway – all with one single donation,” said Alden.

Tickets purchased and donated by fans will first go to sending current Mizzou students who have signed up for free tickets.  Any quantities left over will be given to United States military troops stationed at Bliss Air Force Base in El Paso, and to other El Paso charitable organizations, as selected by Brut Sun Bowl officials.

Those wishing to purchase and donate tickets ($40 per ticket, including processing and handling fees for Internet orders) can do so beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12th either online at www.mutigers.com, over the phone by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS (884-PAWS in Columbia), or by visiting the Mizzou Ticket Office in person at Mizzou Arena. A deadline of Wednesday, Dec. 20th has been set to donate tickets, with the winners of free trips to be notified beginning Friday, Dec. 22nd.
