Missouri To Conclude First Semester Slate At National Power Georgia

Nov. 30, 2006

In a change from years past, the Missouri Swimming and Diving teams will travel to Athens, Ga., for the Bulldog Invitational this weekend. It will be the first time the Tigers have not concluded their first-semester schedule in the state of Texas in three years.

Both teams will send large contingents to Athens in an event that will run similar to those at the Big 12 and NCAA Championships with both preliminary and championship finals heats over multiple days. Prelims begin at 10:30 a.m. CT each day. Finals start at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Among the competing teams on the women's side are No. 4 California, No. 7 Georgia, No. 20 Virginia, No. 21 Minnesota and Georgia Tech. Men's competition will come from No. 9 Georgia, No. 5 USC, No. 18 Virginia, Georgia Tech and Harvard.

Mizzou remained among the top 32 teams in both polls according to the College Swim Coaches Association Top 25, released Thursday.

Missouri's women are 6-1 on the year and after claiming a victory over Truman State in their only action since the last rankings edition. The Tigers are 24th in the nation. The Mizzou men received a total of four votes and remained as the seventh school outside the top-25 to receive votes. The Tiger men are 5-1 on the season and also defeated Truman State in their only action of the past two weeks.
