COLUMBIA, Mo. - A memorial service for Dr. Judy Wells was held Monday, October 2, 2006 at noon in the Clinton Club at Mizzou Arena. Dr. Wells was a member of the Mizzou Athletics family for 17 years. She worked in the Total Person Program (academic services) as a learning facilitator and had a passion for helping the student-athletes succeed academically. Dr. Wells passed away on May 16th, 2006, however due to the timing of her passing; many of her students were unable to attend funeral services. Monday's memorial service allowed those student-athletes who were especially close to "Dr. J.", as she was known to many, a chance to remember her. The memorial service was an event that head coaches, student-athletes, all athletic department staff, and Dr. Wells' family were welcome to attend. The meal served was a favorite recipe of Dr. Wells, and those in attendance were invited to share memories and stories in honor of Dr. Wells. Although she will be missed, her work lives on through the lives of those student-athletes on which she had an impact.
