Tiger Volleyball Receives Rankings Boost

Oct. 16, 2006

COLUMBIA, Mo. -

COLUMBIA, Mo.--Thanks to solid, consistent play the past four weeks, the latest CSTV/AVCA Coaches' Top 25 lists Mizzou volleyball as the 12th-ranked team in the country, the highest ranking the squad has achieved this season. Despite losing to No. 1 Nebraska Wednesday, the voters gave Missouri a stronger look, moving them three spots up the poll, as the Tigers had won seven-straight before losing to the top-ranked Huskers.

The Tigers are tied at 12th in the rankings with LSU.

Mizzou was ranked 13th nationally in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Coaches' Preseason Poll before falling to 15th in the first poll of the season. From there, Mizzou dropped to as low as No. 22 before sweeping No. 5 Texas on September 23.

The Tigers (7-2 Big 12) do have a tough road ahead as they will face No. 23 Oklahoma (8-1 Big 12) in Norman on Wednesday in a battle for second place in the conference. The same day, No. 1 Nebraska (9-0 Big 12) will travel to No. 9 Texas (7-2 Big 12).

After hosting Kansas State this upcoming Saturday, Mizzou will travel to Lincoln to face the Huskers for the second time in two weeks. The Mizzou-Nebraska match will be aired live on FSN Midwest.

Yahoo! Sports to Broadcast Live Audio of Remaining Road Matches

Starting with Wednesday's match at Oklahoma, all road-match live audio via Mizzou will be carried on Yahoo! Sports. Currently all live audio events from Mizzou, including football, men's basketball, and women's basketball are broadcast on the Yahoo! site.

Mizzou volleyball will be broadcasting live road audio during the regular season for the first time in school history.
