Mizzou Basketball Squad Hosts Fourth Open Gym Of Preseason

Sept. 26, 2006

Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Basketball is offering yet another sneak peak at its 2006-07 squad as the Tigers host their fourth open gym of the preseason on Saturday (Sept. 30) at 9 a.m. inside Mizzou Arena.

Scheduled prior to Mizzou Football's 11:30 a.m. Big 12 Conference-opener with Colorado, fans are encouraged to enter Mizzou Arena through the Mizzou Basketball entrance, located on the north side of the arena. The open gym will run in conjunction with the annual Tiger Scholarship Fund Day Tailgate, which is scheduled from 9-11 a.m. on the Walsworth Family Plaza. Walsworth Plaza is located on the northeast corner of Mizzou Arena.

The TSF Day Tailgate provides free food and beverages to the over 4,700 TSF members. Tiger Scholarship Fund members interested in attending Saturday morning's event should RSVP by calling 573-882-0704 or e-mail their RSVP to tsf@missouri.edu. An added bonus for TSF members will come after the open gym when members of the 2006-07 Men's and Women's Basketball programs sign autographs for TSF Day patrons.

The 2006-07 Mizzou Basketball season is just around the corner and in addition to watching Saturday's open gym, fans will be able to help the Tigers tip-off Mike Anderson's first season as Head Coach on Friday, Oct. 13 at Mizzou Madness. Mizzou Madness is a Midnight Madness-style event which is scheduled for 9 p.m. following the annual Rockbridge-Hickman football game at Memorial Stadium / Faurot Field. Admission (and parking) at Mizzou Madness is free to the general public, but the Department of Athletics is teaming up with the Central Missouri Food Bank and asks fans to donate one canned (food) item per person upon entrance. Collection bins will be available at the doors.

In addition to Mizzou Madness, Men's Basketball will host its annual Black and Gold Scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 27, the night before the Tigers tangle with the Oklahoma Sooners at Memorial Stadium / Faurot Field. The Black and Gold Scrimmage will be a dress rehearsal for Mizzou one week before the team opens exhibition play on Nov. 3 against Missouri-Rolla. Game time for the Black and Gold Scrimmage is set for 7 p.m. Admission for the Black and Gold Scrimmage is $5, but a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Boys and Girls Club of Columbia and Coaches vs. Cancer.

Season tickets for Mizzou Basketball are now on sale. Fans should call the Mizzou Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-CAT-PAWS for more information.
