Mizzou Staff Members Make Visits to Putnam and Sullivan Counties

Aug. 18, 2006

Four members of the Mizzou Department of Athletics visited Putnam and Sullivan Counties in Northern Missouri on Thursday continuing the Statewide Outreach efforts, which has now covered 96 of the 114 counties in the state of Missouri.

Athletics Director Mike Alden, Director of Broadcast Operations Mike Kelly, Special Assistant to the Athletics Director Gary Link and Assistant Director of Media Relations Josh Murray began Thursday's trip with the Governor's Ham Breakfast at the State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Mo. The annual breakfast is hosted by the State Fair Foundation and Governor Matt Blunt.

The Tiger staff members then made their way north, stopping at the Waggin Wheel in Malta Bend, Mo. before heading to Milan, Mo. in Sullivan County, where the Milan Rotary hosted the foursome from Mizzou for lunch and a short program. Special thanks go to Jerry Hollon for organizing the event and the crew at Rebecca's Lodge for the meal.

A stop in Unionville, Mo. in Putman County followed as James Garrett organized a gathering at the Book Barn in downtown Unionville. Thanks go to Mr. Garrett and Kari Cassidy of the Book Barn.

Trips to the remaining counties are planned for this fall. Next up is a visit to Holt and Worth counties next Friday.
