Following the first two days of the Central Section Region VIII Long Course Summer Championships, members of the Missouri swimming team have posted some impressive showings, including 11 individual top three finishes and a pair of top two relay performances.

The 400 freestyle relay of Lori Halvorson, Shannon Hogan, Lauren Cox and Carly Sullivan closed out Thursday's women's races with a meet record 3:53.74. Moments later, the quartet of Alex Zasadny, Matt Dahlke, Brad Hubbard and Travis Floyd took the silver in the men's race with a time of 3:34.36. Fellow Tiger Bennett Clark swam the lead leg for the Clayton Shaw Park group that won in 3:31.60.

Halvorson picked up a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 free and 200 back on Wednesday, before opening Thursday's finals with a gold in the 200 free (2:04.85), just ahead of second-place Sullivan (2:06.11).

Jill Granger swam the only sub-five minute time in taking first in the 400 individual medley at 4:59.24. Jill Bastien took the bronze in 5:02.25.

Clark also took first in the 100 (51.67) and 200 (1:55.36) free before claiming second-place honors in the 100 butterfly (56.87).

Action continues with prelims at 9 a.m. Friday through Sunday, and finals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
