Missouri Soccer Releases 2006 Schedule

May 30, 2006

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Head Coach Bryan Blitz and the Missouri soccer team announced its 2006 schedule on Tuesday. The schedule is highlighted by matchups with eight teams that qualified in last season's NCAA Tournament. The slate also features 10 home contests and four teams that finished in the NSCAA/adidas National Top 25 in 2005.

"We're excited about this schedule," said Blitz. "The schedule is filled with quality teams, including eight who participated in last year's NCAA Tournament. We have five games against Big 10 Conference teams, which should test us early in the season. Then we move on to our conference schedule, which is always tough."

Missouri kicks off the 2006 campaign with four straight games against Big 10 opponents. The Tigers open play at home against Iowa on Aug. 25 and Illinois on Aug. 25. Mizzou then hits the road for contests at Northwestern and Minnesota on Sept. 1 and 3, respectively, in the Big 12/Big 10 Challenge.

After home contests against non-conference foes Northwestern State and Loyola-Chicago the following weekend, the Tigers face Wisconsin on Sept. 15 and Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sept. 17, with both games in Madison, Wis.

Missouri kicks off Big 12 Conference action on Friday, Sept. 22 with a home contest against Nebraska. After another home game against Illinois State on Sept. 24, Mizzou hosts two more Big 12 opponents in Texas Tech and Baylor on Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, respectively. The Tigers close out the home schedule with games against Colorado on Oct. 13 and Kansas on Oct. 15.

On Oct. 6 and 8, Missouri will head to Oklahoma for matchups with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Mizzou concludes the 2006 regular season schedule with three straight road games against Texas on Oct. 20, Texas A&M on Oct. 22 and Iowa State on Oct. 27.

All home games are played at the Audrey J. Walton Soccer Complex. Tickets can be purchased from the Missouri Athletic Ticket Office by calling 884-PAWS locally or 1-800-CAT-PAWS.
