COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri women's soccer team closes out competitive spring play with a contest against a Boys U-16 Club team on Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at Walton Stadium. With a win, the Tigers will earn a winning spring season record third-consecutive year.
So far this spring, Missouri (2-2-1) has picked up wins over Marquette and Memphis, tied Missouri State and lost to the full Canadian National Team and to another Boys U-16 team. Although the Tigers fell to the Canadian National Team 2-0, Mizzou stayed with the squad, which featured most players who will represent Canada at next year's Women's World Cup, and managed to play the Canadians even in the second half.
The last time out, Mizzou picked up a 1-1 tie against Missouri State on Friday, April 21 at Liberty Middle School in Liberty, Mo. Tiger Meg Malm recorded Missouri's lone goal in the 60th minute while Aria Hudetz and Ashley Hamblin assisted on the play. Over the course of the game, the Tigers outshot the Bears 22-9, including a 10-5 advantage in shots-on-goal.
During the spring season, the Tigers focus on trying new lineups, positions and formations as a test for the upcoming fall campaign.
Mizzou will conclude spring action on Saturday, April 29 at 12 p.m. with the annual Alumni Event. In an effort to keep alumni involved in the program, former and current Tigers will be mixed into seven-v-seven teams for games.
