Four-Time All-State Women's Golfer Signs with Mizzou

April 24, 2006

Mizzou Head Women's Golf Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer announced on Monday that Madison Marcolla has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the University of Missouri Women's Golf team in Fall 2006. Marcolla is a four-time all-state golfer for Chillicothe (Mo.) High School, finishing in the top 10 all four years, including three top fives.

Marcolla took fourth place in the State Tournament as a senior after taking third place finishes in her sophomore and junior season and a 10th place finish as a freshman. She took the conference title in each of her four seasons with Chillicothe High and was a three-time district champion.

The St. Joseph News-Press named her the Golfer of the Year all four years of her high school career. She won the Westfield Junior Midwest PGA Championship in 2004 and 2005 and tied for sixth at the Missouri Girls' State Championship in 2005.

"Madison is a very athletic and highly intelligent young lady," Priesmeyer said. "She will be a great addition to our young team next fall. I can tell by speaking with Madison she is very determined to help this team continue to rise up in the ranks of college golf. She is a hardworker and has exhibited a lot of leadership in high school."

Along with her accolades on the golf course, Marcolla has excelled in the classroom as a four-time academic letterwinner and a member of the National Honor Society. She will graduate in May in the top five percent of her class, compiling a 3.98 GPA.

Marcolla's brother, Kyle, is a redshirt freshman on the Mizzou Men's Golf Team.
