TULSA, Okla. - - Play has been suspended in round two of the Big 12 Conference Men's Golf Championships at Southern Hills Golf Course in Tulsa Okla. Round one was completed earlier on Monday before a severe thunderstorm in the Tulsa area suspended play midway through the second round.
After the opening round, Mizzou was in 11th place with a round of 300. Oklahoma and Texas led after the first round of play with rounds of 285, followed by three teams (Baylor, Texas Tech and Texas A&M) tied for third with first round scores 289.
Freshman Peter Malnati made three birdies in his opening round and shot an even-par 35 on the back nine, finishing with a two-over par 72 in round one, placing him in a tie fore 14th overall. Junior John Kelly followed with a round of 74, while senior Ben Scott and junior Shawn Jasper had opening round scores of 77. Senior Chris Mabry carded an opening round of 78.
The second round was suspended at 6:52 p.m. with all competitors through at least nine holes on their second round. All groups have between two and nine holes to play in round two.
The second round will resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning with the third and final round to follow.
