COLUMBIA, Mo. - In search of their third win of the spring season, the Missouri women's soccer team will travel to Liberty, Mo., on Friday for a game against in-state rival Missouri State at 7 p.m. CT at Liberty High School. The contest will air live on Liberty Public School's cable channel, KLPS, which is available throughout the Liberty school district on channel 18.
The Missouri State Bears recorded a 9-4-5 record and lost to Evansville in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Mizzou hold a 2-1 all-time series advantage and posted a 3-0 win in spring play last year.
The Tigers are coming off an impressive 2-0 loss to the full Canadian National Team on April 11 at Walton Stadium. The Canadian squad, which features players who will represent Canada at the 2007 Women's World Cup, scored two early goals but the Mizzou defense held the Canadians without a goal for the final 61 minutes. Prior to their matchup with Missouri, Canada posted a 9-0 win over Louisville and a 6-1 victory over Purdue. Canada also beat Kansas 1-0 on April 13 and Nebraska 4-1 on April 14.
Mizzou closes out the spring season with a matchup against the U-16 Boys Club Team on Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at Walton Stadium. On Saturday, April 29, the Tigers will host an alumni event at 12 p.m. CT at Walton Stadium, which will feature current and former Tigers on seven-v.-seven teams
