March 6, 2006

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Mizzou swimmers and Big 12 champions Matt Ferrarelli and Rebecca Wolfe have been named to the Big 12 Swimming and Diving 10th Anniversary team. Ferrarelli, the school's only two-time conference champion, took the 400 IM crown in 2001 and '03, and Wolfe claimed victory in the 200 fly in 2003.

"Matt and Rebecca are the two finest athletes I've ever had the privilege to coach," Mizzou head coach Brian Hoffer said. "This is a proud moment, both for them and for our program. This honor couldn't have been given to two better people than those two."

Ferrarelli holds individual school records in the 200 (1:47.45) and 400 IM (3:47.38) and the 200 back (1:46.57), and is a member of the school-record holding 400 free relay squad (4:00.52). He also stands second all-time in the 100 back (49.60), as well as swimming on the third (3:18.97) and fourth (3:19.26) fastest 400 medley relay teams and the fourth-fastest 800 free relay team (6:43.49) in school history.

Wolfe holds the distinction being the Mizzou school record holder and the only woman in the program's history to swim a sub-2:00 race in the 200 fly (1:58.82). She is also fifth in school history in the 1000 free (10:14.79).

The Big 12 Swimming and Diving 10th Anniversary Team was selected by a vote of the league's coaches. In order to be eligible for selection, candidates must have been an event winner at the Big 12 Championships.
