COLUMBIA, Mo. - - No. 20 Missouri remained perfect at home, defeating Wisconsin-Milwaukee 9-5 on Saturday at Taylor Stadium. Four of the nine runs scored by Mizzou were driven in by junior John McKee, who has driven in four runs in each of the last three games.
Senior Zane Taylor led off the third inning with a single to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. He has had a hit in all of the Tigers games this season except for the season opener. Sophomore Brock Bond followed Taylor with a single in the third and both Taylor and Bond would score on a double by McKee.
McKee scored the Tigers' first run in the second inning, as he was hit by a pitch and later scored on a single by sophomore Evan Frey. McKee, who set the school record by being hit by a pitch 23 times last year, has already been hit by a pitch six times this season.
He added another two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning, knocking in his third and fourth runs of the game. McKee scored again in the seventh inning on a one-out double by junior Gary Arndt. McKee is 6-for-10 with six runs and 12 RBI in the three games of this eight-game homestand.
The Tigers were out-hit for the second-straight game, 14-11 on Saturday, but managed to get the win for the second day in a row.
Making his season debut at Taylor Stadium on Sunday, junior Nathan Culp struck out four in 6 2/3 innings pitched and took the win to move to 3-1 on the season.
