Columbia, Mo. - The No. 66 Texas Tech Lady Raiders defeated the University of Missouri women's tennis team 5-2 on Saturday. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-4 overall, and 0-3 in the Big 12.

Mizzou Head Coach Blake Starkey believes the Tigers' mistakes made the difference.

"We made too many unforced errors, and we didn't execute in certain spots where I thought we needed to. And that was the match."

The Tigers earned their two points in the No. 4 and No. 5 singles positions. At No. 4 singles, Mizzou freshman Val Dandik defeated Texas Tech's Lakann Wagley in straight sets 7-6 (4), 6-3. In the No. 5 singles position, Mizzou's Erika Josbena defeated Samantha VanderDrift 6-2, 6-0. Josbena teamed up with Tiger junior Amanda Pratzel to win their No. 3 doubles match 8-4 over Katja Kovacic and Erin Hunter.

At No. 1 singles, Mizzou senior Hana Kraftova lost a tough three set match against Texas Tech's Tara Browning 1-6, 6-1, 6-1. Junior Yelena Olshanskaya also lost a three set match at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Lady Raider Janet Durham defeated Mizzou's Lubica Nadasska 6-2, 6-3. Losing only her second match of the season, Tiger junior Amanda Pratzel fell to Texas Tech's Katja Kovacic 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 6 singles spot. In doubles action, the Tiger duo of Hana Kraftova and Chrissy Svetlic fell to Texas Tech's Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley 8-3. And at No. 2 doubles, Mizzou's Olshanskaya and Dandik fell to Lady Raiders Duru and Durham 8-1.

The Tigers return to the Green Tennis Center on Saturday, March 11 when they host No. 16 Baylor at 1 p.m. All home matches are open to the public.
