The Mizzou Men's Golf team is tied for 10th place after the first two rounds of play at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The tournament is the first of the spring for MU.
The Tigers recorded a second round total of 302, improving 10 shots from Sunday's opening round of 302. Their 36-hole total of 614 has them in a tie for tenth place with Tennessee. UCLA leads the tournament with a two-round total of 594.
Junior Shawn Jasper turned in the best day for Missouri in Monday with a 74, which included a two-under par front nine. He is tied for 25th place with a two-round total of 152 (78-74).
One shot behind Jasper is senior Ben Scott, whose 36-hole score of 153 (77-76) puts him in a tie for 32nd place. SeniorChris Mabry is just one shot behind Scott with a two-round total of 154 (78-76) and in a tie for 40th place.
Freshman Peter Malnati (79-78=157) is tied for 48th place and junior John Kelly (94-76=170) is in a tie for 77th place.
The third and final round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship will be played on Tuesday morning.
