Mizzou Women's Tennis Coach Blake Starkey Earned His 100th Win Last Friday

Feb. 28, 2006

Columbia, Mo. - Missouri Women's Tennis Coach Blake Starkey recently collected his 100th win as the Tiger's head coach. The victory came over Montana State this past weekend. Starkey, now in his 9th year, is Mizzou's winningest tennis coach in program history.

"It's a milestone and something I'm happy about," said Starkey. "From Andrea Friedman and Joni Jordan on that first team to Yelena Olshanskaya and everyone on this team and everyone in between, they are the ones who won those matches on the courts. I've just had the best seat in the house to watch great tennis, and it's been a good ride so far. Right now, we just want to add to the list as soon as humanly possible."

Starkey and the Tigers will get their chance this weekend as they host No. 66 Texas Tech. The Saturday match will begin at noon at the Green Tennis Center in Columbia. All matches are free to the public, and anyone is welcome to attend.
