Missouri vs. Iowa State
Norm Stewart Court at Mizzou Arena
January 25, 2005 - 7 p.m.
Game Notes
Mizzou's 140 all-time wins against Iowa State are the Tigers' most over any other opponent in school history.
Despite this loss, the Tigers still hold a 79-20 advantage all-time at home versus Iowa State.
Missouri Team Notes
The 82-58 loss marks the Tigers' worst defeat at home since dropping a 99-70 decision to Kansas State in 1960-61.
The 24-point loss to the Cyclones is the Tigers' worst home loss in the all-time series, besting the 20-point defeat the Tigers absorbed in 1941 (49-29).
Sophomore forward Kalen Grimes' jumper at the 13:49 mark of the second half was the first field goal attempt by a Mizzou player other than junior guard Thomas Gardner in the game's second stanza.
Missouri Player Notes
With a driving layup at the 14:10 mark of the second half, senior guard Jimmy McKinney became the 36th player in Tiger history to score 1,000 points. He finished the game with seven points, tying him with Malcolm Thomas for 34th on the all-time list with 1,002 tallies.
With his 15-point effort, junior guard Thomas Gardner reached double figures in scoring for the ninth consecutive game, and for the 16th time in Mizzou's 17 games this season.
Sophomore guard Jason Horton's seven rebounds are a new career high. His previous mark was six, which he set versus UMKC earlier this season.
Sophomore forward Kalen Grimes' nine rebounds are a career-best, bettering the total of seven he had earlier this season against Illinois. Grimes' 11 points were a season-high, eclipsing the mark of eight he set against Louisiana-Monroe and just missing his career high by one point.
After having not seen action in Mizzou's first five Big 12 games, junior guard James Douglas registered a steal and a bucket within 10 seconds of entering the contest with Iowa State.
