Utilizing Missouri spring break this week, the Tigers are scheduled to train in Washington D.C., for the next few days. Enjoying some time off the court, the Tigers are eager to explore the nation's history-rich capital. Mizzou's plans include a visit with Missouri Senator Kit Bond, tours of the U.S. Capital, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Smithsonian, the United States Naval Academy and taking in a play at the Kennedy Center.
While most of Mizzou's tennis players are from the U.S., several of the Tigers are international students. "For a few of us, this is just incredible," said New Zealand native Charlotte Bellis. "We've learned so much about the U.S. through teammates, and just from being here. But this opportunity in D.C. is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I'll never forget."
Teammate Hana Kraftova, from Prague in the Czech Republic, shares Bellis's sentiment. "I'm looking forward to Congress," said Kraftova. "I know a little about it, but it will be good to see it for real."
Getting back into the swing of things, the Tigers travel to Texas for a pair of Big 12 matches against #16 Baylor and Texas Tech March 26-27.
