Mizzou Gymnastics Tackles More Than Finals This Holiday Season

Dec. 14, 2005

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Tigers are spreading the holiday cheer to one Mid-Missouri family this season after teaming up with the Voluntary Action Center to adopt a needy family. Members of the team, coaching staff and support personnel graciously donated money and gifts to the family.

"The team really enjoys this service project," assistant coach Kira Montuori said. "It's a great way to remind us of the true holiday spirit."

After purchasing the gifts, the team got together for a wrapping party.

"It's fun to see what everyone bought and it's great to see all the presents wrapped ready to go," senior Jodie Heinicka said.

The Voluntary Action Center program is anonymous. Although the Tigers don't know who their holiday family is, they are grateful for the chance to help.

"You want to see the expression on the family's faces when they get the gifts but it's just really fulfilling to know you are a part in making someone's holiday better." Heinicka adds.

The Mizzou Gymnastics Team wishes everyone the season's greatest blessings - Hope, Love and Faith.
