COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior defenders Meggie Malm (Des Moines, Iowa / Roosevelt) and Lauren Grice (Columbia, Mo. / Hickman) were selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII teams, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Malm earned a first team selection while Grice made the second team.

Malm, an industrial engineering major, started 15 of 16 games this year for Missouri after recovering from an ankle injury early in the season. Helping anchor a defense that recorded seven shutouts and allowed 1.30 goals per game, Malm also earned an assist against Texas Tech this season. Additionally, she is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 first team honoree. With her first team selection, Malm is eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America teams, to be announced on Nov. 22.

A nutrition major, Grice saw action in 19 games with nine starts on both the backline and midfield for the Tigers is 2005. Grice also recorded one point on the year with an assist against Arkansas State. A Academic All-Big 12 first team selection in 2004 and 2005, Grice played all 90 minutes in two games this season and 106 minutes in a double-overtime contest with Oklahoma.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
