EL PASO, Texas - - Missouri junior Shawn Jasper followed an opening round 77 with a six-under par 65 and is in a tie for 18th place after two rounds of the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic at the El Paso Country Club. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
Jasper's two-round total of 142 puts him at even par after 36 holes and in a four-way tie for 18th place with Oscar Alvarez of BYU, Niklas Lemke of Arizona State and Taylor Wood of USC. Vanderbilt's Luke List leads the tournament with a 10-under par score of 132 after the first two rounds.
The 2005 Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic ranks as the No. 1 tournament in the country, according to Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. The tournament is hosted by the Sun Bowl Association and is played at the par 71, 6,781 yard El Paso Country Club. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to each university that has a golfer participating in the tournament.
