Game Notes
Today marked the first-ever meeting between Missouri and Northwestern State on the basketball court.
Mizzou scored the first five points of the game, with a hoop from sophomore Marshall Brown and a three-pointer from junior Thomas Gardner.

Missouri opened the second half on a 13-5 run to cut the Northwestern State lead to five.
Junior Thomas Gardner's jumper at the 4:18 mark in the second half gave Mizzou its first lead since the 13:30 mark in the first half.
Mizzou went on a 9-0 run over a span of 1:56 to take a 70-65 lead with 3:38 left in the second half.
Missouri closed out the game on a 20-7 run over the final 5:34 of the game.
Missouri Team Notes
Sunday's game was the second straight against a Southland Conference opponent for Mizzou. MU fell to Sam Houston State last Monday.
The Tigers are now 9-2 all-time against teams from the Southland Conference.
Missouri Player Notes
Sophomore Kalen Grimes made his first career start for the Tigers on Sunday.
Junior Thomas Gardner scored 20 points or more for the second-consecutive game and for the fifth time in his career. He set a new career high with 25 points against Northwestern State and has led the Tigers in scoring in each of the first two games of the season.
Junior Thomas Gardner was 5-of-8 from three-point range, marking the sixth time in his career he has made at least four 3's in a game. He is the first Tiger to record five three pointers in game since Jason Horton did it against Texas A&M on Feb. 5, 2005.
Senior Kevin Young recorded his first-career double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, which are both career-highs for Young.
Senior Jimmy McKinney reached double-digits in scoring (15 points) for the 39th time in his career.
