COLUMBIA, Mo.--Brittney Herzog, a senior at Boonville High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the nationally-ranked Missouri volleyball team next fall, as announced Friday by Mizzou Head Coach Wayne Kreklow. Herzog, an all-state volleyball and basketball player, will bring her talents as a physical and athletic middle blocker.
Herzog, a native of Boonville, Mo., has produced strong numbers over her high-school career, tallying 1,137 kills, 1,333 digs, and 444 blocks, leading her team to three district championships. In addition, Herzog and the Boonville High School Pirates won the Missouri River Valley Conference championship with a 9-0 record.
"Brittney is, without a question, an outstanding athlete," said Kreklow. "She was also a heavily-recruited basketball star, and we think she has the athleticism to play in the Big 12. We think she is going to develop into a great volleyball player."
Brittney is the daughter of Dina Herzog, a four-year letterwinner of Mizzou volleyball. Dina was an outstanding blocker for the Tigers in the early 80s, producing the second-best season of blocking in Tiger history, when in 1984 she tallied 114 total blocks (1.28 bpg).
