LAKESIDE, Calif.- - The Mizzou Men's Golf team stands in 19th place after a one-over par first round at the Taylor Made Barona Cup in Lakeside, Calif. near San Diego on Monday. Play was suspended with the second round in progress due to poor weather conditions. The second round will conclude starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, with the third and final round to follow.
Senior Chris Mabry and freshman Ryne Fisher each turned in an opening round of 71, which was one-under par. They are among a group of 21 golfers in a tie for 34th place overall.
Junior Shawn Jasper is tied for 62nd place after a one over 73 in Monday's opening round. Senior Ben Scott is tied for the 80th spot with a 74 on Monday and junior John Kelly is tied for 86th place after carding a 75 in the first round.
Missouri finished with a team score of 289. Brigham Young leads the tournament after the first round with a 273 team score, followed by Fresno State's 274 and Denver's 275.
The first two rounds were scheduled to be played on Monday, but fog delayed action and forced play to be suspended with round two in progress.
