Gold defeated Black 18-4 in game one of Mizzou Baseball's Fall World Series which was completed on Thursday. The game started on Wednesday, but was suspended in the bottom of the third inning due to rain and resumed on Thursday afternoon.
Five players had at least three hits for the Gold team led by sophomore Jacob Priday who went 4-for-6 with two RBI. Senior Derek Chambers and sophomore Evan Frey each drove in four runs and a pair of players on the Gold squad had three RBI, including freshman Dan Wise who homered in the eighth inning.
After each team scored a run in the first inning, the Gold team put six runs across the plate in the top of the second inning. Gold then put together another six-run inning in the fifth inning, to build a 13-1 lead. It added one run in the seventh and four more in the eighth inning.
Due of the delay of game one, game two will now be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The remainder of the schedule will not change. Game three will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday with games four and five, if necessary, scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m each night.
