ST. CHARLES, Mo. - - Mizzou Men's Golf is in third place after the first day of the Missouri Bluffs Intercollegiate Challenge hosted by the University of Missouri at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club in St. Charles, Mo. The Tigers were led on Monday by freshman Ryne Fisher, who shot a pair of 70's and stands in a tie for ninth place individually.
One shot behind Fisher are senior Chris Mabry (70-71=141) and junior John Kelly (71-70=141) who are in a tie for 13th spot. Senior Ben Scott (73-71=144) and junior Shawn Jasper (73-71=144) are tied for 27th place after the first day of competition.
Six Tigers are competing individually and are led by junior Tyler Dunn (72-74=146) who is tied for 37th place. Junior Trent Twaddle (74-73=147) and freshman Peter Malnati (74-73=147) are in a tie for 45th place, while junior Michael Unger (75-75=150) and sophomore Chris Zeller (72-78=150) are tied for 63rd. Freshman Kyle Marcolla is in 77th place with a two-round total of 157 (81-76).
"We played some good golf today," Head Coach Mark Leroux said. "I'm happy with where we are. I think we can come out tomorrow and play well and that's what we'll need to do."
Drake leads the tournament with a 36-hole team score of 555, seven shot ahead of second-place Saint Louis (562) and 11 shots ahead of Missouri (566).
The third and final round will be played on Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m.
