Columbia, Mo. -- - Columbia, MO - The University of Missouri men's basketball program unveils its centennial season with the annual Black & Gold Game, held Friday, Oct. 21, at Mizzou Arena beginning at 7 p.m.
The event is free to the public and begins at 7p.m. with an autograph session on the concourse, featuring the Tigers. While fans meet and greet their favorite MU players, a replay of last season's thrilling 72-68 win over No. 7 Kansas will play on video boards leading up to the evening's on-court entertainment.
"The opportunity for our players and staff to interact with the fans is what makes this event so special," head coach Quin Snyder said. "I know our guys look forward to the Black & Gold Game every year and more than just a scrimmage, it's a chance to show the entire Mizzou Family how much they mean to us."
Included in that entertainment will be performances by the nationally-recognized Missouri Cheer Squad and Golden Girls, on-court contests with prizes and games for fans.
The Tigers will then take the floor, kicking off the 2005-06 campaign. Following team introductions, a celebrity panel will judge a team dunk contest leading up to the annual Black & Gold Game.
Missouri opens its 2005-06 season on Nov. 2 with an exhibition contest against Bemidji State at Mizzou Arena. The 7 p.m. tip will be carried live on the Mizzou Sports Network. The Tigers open regular-season action in the Preseason NIT when they host Sam Houston State on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets for that contest are available by calling the Missouri Athletic Ticket Offices at 1-800-CAT-PAWS (7297).
