KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - - The Tiger Men's Golf Team finished eighth in the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. after shooting a final round 294. Senior Ben Scott led Mizzou individually, finishing in a tie for 12th place.
Scott shot a one-under par 71 on Tuesday for a three-round total of 212 (70-71-71). Fellow senior Chris Mabry turned in an even-par final round and finished with a 54-hole score of 216 (75-69-72), which put him in a tie for 25th place.
Junior Shawn Jasper was one shot behind Mabry with a three-round total of 217 (74-68-74) to finish in a tie for 30th. Junior John Kelly had a 54-hole score of 219 (74-68-77) to tie for 40th overall and freshman Peter Malnati finished tied for 71st with a final total of 228 (74-73-81).
The host school for the tournament, Tennessee, took first place, finishing 32 shots ahead of second place at 34-under par. The Volunteers also had three of the top four places individually.
Next up for the Tigers is the Mattaponi Springs Shootout in Richmond, Va. on Oct. 3-4. The following week, Missouri will host the Missouri Bluffs Intercollegiate in Chesterfield, Mo.
