COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri post-collegian Christian Cantwell will compete Saturday in the men's shot put at the IAAF World Championships of Athletics in Helsinki, Finland. Cantwell won the USA Track & Field shot title in late-June and currently is ranked sixth in the IAAF World Rankings, having the second-longest throw in the World in 2005. Cantwell won the IAAF World Indoor Championship in 2004.
Cantwell will throw in the qualification round at 10:15 a.m., local time (2:15 a.m., central), on Saturday. Those who advance will compete later that night at 8:55 p.m., local time (12:55 p.m., central), in the final.
Tape-delayed television coverage of the meet can be found in the United States on Saturday between 3-4 p.m., central, on the PAX Network. In Columbia, PAX can be found on Mediacom channel 46.
