Columbia, MO - The No. 13 University of Missouri women's golf squad opens the spring portion of its schedule on Monday at the Central District Classic. The two-day tournament will be played on the Par-72, 6,009-yard River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, FL. Four top 20 teams will be playing at the Classic including No. 9 Oklahoma State, the highest ranked squad at the tournament.

"This is a great opportunity for us to face some of the top competition in the country," 2004 Big 12 Coach of the Year Stephanie Cooper said. "Our qualifying rounds have been very competitive and we have had the chance to get a lot of practice in, so we look to get the spring off to a good start in Florida."

The Tigers are coming off of one of the most successful fall seasons in school history in which they recorded four top-five finishes in five tournaments. Led by the dynamic duo of senior Maria Ohlsson and Denise Knaebel (who both recorded stroke averages of 73.71), the Tigers set school record for a single round (287) and for a full tournament (882).

Ohlsson won her first career tournament at the Lady Northern Classic to open the fall. Her win was fueled by a school-record 66 in the second round as she finished the tourney with a 54-hole total of 214. She recorded four top ten finishes on the fall and tied for the team lead with a 73.7 stroke average per 18 holes.

Knaebel was also one of the most consistent players last fall. She, like Ohlsson, registered four top 10 finishes and a 73.7 stroke average. Her best finish of the fall was a tie for second place at the Lady Northern Classic. She was also on fire at the Mason Rudolph Invitational, finishing in a tie for third place with two rounds of par or better including a final round 67 to finish with a 54-hole total of 216.

Junior Kelli Strubinger also had a quality fall with a 76.6 stroke average. She had a career-best finish at the Lady Razorback when she shot a three-round total of 224 and finished fifth at the event. After shooting an opening round 80, Strubinger registered a 74 in the second round and then was on fire in the final round shooting a 70.

Mindy Bullard had a great beginning to her fall season, recording two top 20 finishes including an 8th place showing at the Lady Northern Classic. Her 76.4 stroke average was ranked third on the squad .

Play begins at 8 am EST (7 am CST) on Monday with a shotgun start. Live scoring and complete results of both days will be posted on www.mutigers.com through www.golfstat.com. For more information on Missouri Women's Golf, log on to www.mutigers.com.
