
Dunne Gets It Done At The Payton U.S. Open

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Missouri track and field post-collegian Timothy Dunne won the Olympic Development 800-meter run at the Payton Jordan U.S. Track & Field Open on Monday. Dunne won with a season-best time of 1:48.18, fifteen hundredths of a second better than Jeff DeLong. Derrick Peterson, another Tiger post-collegian, finished in fifth place in the open 800.
Dunne earned all-American honors at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800, earning an Olympic Trials "B" standard qualifying mark of 1:47.39 in the preliminary round.
Peterson crossed the finish line in 1:51.29 and in fifth place. Last weekend at the Home Depot Invitational, Peterson ran a season-best of 1:47.25.
ESPN2 will air coverage of the meet tomorrow, June 1st, from 8-9pm, central time.
The Missouri post-collegians have a busy weekend ahead. Dunne, Peterson, and Christian Cantwell will compete at the adidas Track Classic this Saturday, June 5th, in Gresham, Ore. Tiger heptathletes Michelle Moran and Fiona Asigbee will be in San Diego, Calif., for the U.S. Olympic Training Center Combined Event.
