
Missouri Relays A Success For Tiger Track & Field

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri track and field hosted the second day of the 5th annual Missouri Relays on Saturday. Two additional Tigers earned NCAA regional qualifying marks on their way to MU Relay records and event titles.
Junior Jill Petersen (O'Fallon, Mo.) earned a personal-best, NCAA regional qualifying mark in the 3000-meter steeplechase winning with a time of 10:44.50. Petersen broke Ashley Patten's MU Relays meet record with the performance.
Freshman Melanie Uher (Wilber, Neb.) took the top spot in the women's discus with a NCAA regional mark of 163-2 (49.66m). Uher enters into Missouri's all-time top five with the performance and earned a meet record as well.
Junior transfer Conrad Woolsey (Excelsior Springs, Mo.) grabbed the title in the men's shot put, extending his personal-best, NCAA regional qualifying mark to 62 feet, 5 inches. This meet marks the first time Woolsey has eclipsed the 19-meter plateau (19.02m).
The Tiger women's 4x800-relay team of Kristin Hansen, Amanda Bales, Ashley Patten, and Allison Werner won with a MU Relays record time of 9:14.47.
Junior Neville Miller (St. Louis, Mo.) took the title in the 1500m run with a time of 3:54.91. Jenny Bybee and Alicia Cannady tied for the title in the women's high jump; both cleared 5-6 (1.68m).
Junior Whittney Stuart (Fort Wayne, Ind.) set a personal-best in the 400-meter dash with a third place time of 55.75.
Missouri gained top three performances by: Ashley Patten (1500m), Lindsey Markworth (Discus), Matt Noonan (1500m), Tipper O'Brien (800m), Gary File (Javelin), Kate Greer (Steeplechase), Jesse Sims (High Jump), Ann Snider (Hammer Throw), Jessica Stockard (High Jump), Lyndsay Tait (Pole Vault).
Next weekend, Missouri will host the Tom Botts Invitational with Iowa State, Notre Dame, and the Iowa women as guests. Events will be held both Friday and Saturday.
