Columbia, Mo. - Senior Matt North of the Missouri men's swim team and junior Lisa Boyd of the women's volleyball team were named this week's Lathrop & Gage Student-Athletes of the Week for their strengths in their respective sports, in the classroom and contributions to the community.

Swimming in the 400-yard individual medley (IM) relay team, North along with his teammates, set a MU natatorium pool-record time of 3:23.85 in Saturday's dual against Southern Illinois. Topping off the day, North earned two solo first-place finishes for his times in the 200-yard IM (1:52.83) and 200-yard breast stroke (2:05.76). The Tigers finished the meet with their first dual victory in over a year. North is a native of St. Charles, Ill., and carries a 3.19 grade-point average in Accounting. Outside of the classroom, North volunteered his time riding his bike in the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 150.

Also helping her team to a victory was women's volleyball player Boyd. Knocking off Big 12 opponent Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday, Boyd hit .500 with six kills in the first game alone. By the end of game four, Boyd totaled 26 total attacks with 13 kills and only three errors (.385). Boyd is a native of Farmington, Mo., and holds a 3.00 grade-point average in consumer family economics. As a member of the MU volleyball team, Boyd gives her time to the Tiger Express to Academic Success program, conducting tours around MU's sports park for Smithton Middle School students.

The women's volleyball team will travel to Iowa State on Wednesday, Nov. 10, before returning home for a game against No. 9 Texas Sunday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. Tickets for all of Missouri's upcoming sporting events are available through the ticket office or by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS.
