Head Coach Quinn Snyder
Opening Statement "I feel bad for Schumacher who got hurt on the opening tip. I know how much he was looking forward to playing back there. I think he's a terrific kid. I think it was a great game for us. We are more physical then them and I think we started the game the right way and they are a very well coached team. Kim did a terrific job. For us to play a team that competed like that though out the entire game was great and it showed when we let up a little bit that's when they started making shots. I was pleased with how we guarded for about 24 minutes and I think we did a really great job of sharing the ball, you know it's a great way to play."
On the ejection:
"Well you know, it's competition. The guys get tangled up and well there was arms and legs and elbows and he got knocked and get tried to protect himself and you know its one of those things that happen in football and no one even mentions it and in basketball you don't have pads on, so anyhow I don't think it was a big deal. You gotta compete."
On the starting lineup: I feel we are still evaluating and we'll see how that goes. One of the things I told the team at half team see I felt we were playing multiple players the advantage should be that everyone has energy, and sometimes those guys that maybe aren't playing as much they can let down a bit. Jimmy was terrific tonight. Jimmy....we've got four guys Linas, Jimmy, Thomas and Coop and Horton this last week has really played his way into that group and Kevin has Kevins got to step out a bit. Jimmy...Jimmy's our captain and we're not concerned with who's startin...I think he played more minutes then anybody, I don't know we can check...I know he played more in the first half, and I was really happy with how he guarded. Jimmy McKinney has done everything for this program. He's taking points...he's just a terrific kid and I don't think he's concerned about that. He's one of our top players and this is a team about being a team and that's emblematic of how Jimmy played today.
Sophomore Thomas Gardner
On the team's performance tonight:
"I think we played well as a team. We played together, the ball moved, people weren't really worried about their own shots. That's something that we really wanted to do well this year."
On finding the open man:
"That's something that coach really emphasizes everyday, sharing the ball, getting your teammate the shot. I think today was our first chance to show coach of how we look when we share the ball."
Junior Jimmy McKinney
On the start of the season:
"I felt like I was a freshman again. It felt good to be back, we've got games now, playing against Thomas everyday can get boring."
On opening in the Paige Sports Arena
"It was a good opening. I couldn't wait till we opened the building to get a couple games in. It's good to look on the other side wearing uniforms, to have an opponent, to have coach dressed, we've got a crowd. It's back to normal now. We're ready to play games and get on a roll."
Freshman Jason Horton
On playing against teammate Spencer Laurie:
"Whenever I step on the floor whether it's a practice or a game I play hard. We help each other out, we push each other everyday."
On getting back to game form:
"It's good. It's been a long struggle for the last six months just playing period. It's good to get out there and play and I'm just really appreciating the game right now."
