Columbia, Mo. - Redshirt senior Brock Harvey and senior Lindsay Palbykin were named this week's Lathrop & Gage student-athletes of the week. Members of the football and swimming teams, respectively, both student-athletes hold above a 3.0 grade-point average, contribute significantly to their teams and provide service to the community in their spare time.
A three-time Academic All-Big 12 member, Harvey is a native of Centertown, Mo., and was the Tigers' starting punter before suffering a broken collarbone early in the 2004 season. Harvey holds a career-best 42.5 yards-per kick average for his punts and received Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and Special Teams Player of the Year honors for his contributions in 2002. Majoring in agribusiness management, Harvey holds a 3.20 grade-point average and is a member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Football Funtime Clinic.
Balancing her time between school and swimming, Palbykin, of Tempe, Ariz., holds a 3.11 grade-point average in education. In the pool, the co-captain swims the sprint freestyle and middle distance races and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in the Tigers' season opener against Texas A&M. As a member of Missouri's 400-yard freestyle relay team, Palbykin and her teammates took first place (3:28.16) in their dual against Kansas on Oct. 30. Palbykin donates her time to the Ronald McDonald House Benefit.
This Missouri football team will travel to Ames, Iowa for their final game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 27. The game will be aired live on ABC at noon. The women's swimming and diving team will head south to San Antonio, Texas for the US Open Swim Meets Dec. 2-4.
