Nov. 12, 2004

Columbia, Mo.--Proving it can get things done in the classroom, as well as on the field, the Mizzou soccer program continues to receive post-season academic recognition. Senior midfielder Karen Bauer was awarded her second consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-District award after leading the team with a 3.94 cumulative grade point average.

Starting 17-of-18 games played this season, Bauer tied to lead the team dishing out six assists, including five from cornerkicks to set the Missouri career cornerkick assist record with 12. Scoring two penalty kick goals, she also set the Mizzou career PK record with a perfect 6-for-6 tally. She was honored as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week following her performance against Alabama A&M after scoring a goal and an assist to help the Tigers best the Bulldogs 5-2.

Making history last season, Bauer became Mizzou's first Academic All-District and Academic All-America soccer player. She adds her newest all-district award to a slew of honors including three first team academic All-Big 12 selections and four Total Person Program Academic Achievement Awards earning the soccer team's highest grade point average.
