Columbia, Mo. --- The Green Tennis Center welcomes competitors from across the region as it hosts the United States Tennis Association Missouri Valley Segment I Girl's 18 Super Championship Sat.-Sun., Nov. 13-14. It is the first major G18 event to be held on the University of Missouri campus, as well as in Columbia.
The two-day tournament is a required stop for top-ranked girls in the Missouri Valley Section as they work to accumulate points in order for the USTA to evaluate and determine rankings on the national and sectional level.
For members of the Green Tennis Center, this event looks to be an excellent opportunity to view talent on the junior level as ranked players from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa compete in the 32 draw competition.
Working closely with the Missouri Valley USTA and serving as a coach for MVTA Sectional teams over the past six years, Mizzou Coach Blake Starkey looks forward to the opportunity to promote some of the region's finest talents.
"We're looking forward to hosting, and expect to put on a first rate event," Starkey said.
Parents of players with questions about the tournament should call the Green Tennis Center front desk at 573-882-7200, or Kent Schultz of the Missouri Valley Section office in Kansas City at 785-249-8279.
