Tiger Cross Country Lands Everyone On Academic All-Big 12 List

DALLAS - The Big 12 Conference named a total of 125 student-athletes to their 2004 Men's and Women's Cross Country Academic All-Big 12 team on Tuesday, and all 15 Tigers meeting eligibility requirements scored above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to get on the conference list. Two Tigers redshirt junior Rem Moll and senior Serena Ramsey has a 4.0 cumulative grade point average through the 2004 winter semester.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the cross country academic all-league squad consisted of 97 combined first-team members and 28 on the second team. First-team members consist of those who maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team are those who have posted 3.00-3.19 GPAs.

To qualify student-athletes must have a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or in each of the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are included.

Kansas State will host the 2004 Big 12 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship Saturday at Stateland Cross Country Course in Topeka, Kan. The women's 6,000-meter run will begin at 10 a.m. CT followed by the men's 8,000-meter race at 11 a.m. The top men's and women's teams will be crowned league champion, while the first 15 individuals in each race will be awarded Big 12 medallions.
