The Black team took a 5-3 win in game two of Mizzou Baseball's Fall World Series on Monday at Taylor Stadium to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Hunter Mense was 3-for-4 to lead the Black team, which was out-hit by the Gold team 9-7. James Boone's two-run triple helped to give the Black team the victory. Derek Chambers, Stephen Spaugh and Matt Wulfers all added hits for the winning team.
Doug Mathis, making his first appearance for MU, allowed two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in seven innings of work to record the victory. Dustin Braud pitched the ninth to pick up the save.
Zane Taylor was 3-for-4 for the Gold team, including two RBI.
The Black team will look to clinch the best-of-five series in game three at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Taylor Stadium.
