Greer and Twaddle Earn Student-Athlete Honors

Columbia, Mo. - Women's cross country runner Kate Greer and men's golf member Trent Twaddle were named this week's Lathrop & Gage Student-Athlete's of the Week. Both students hold above a 3.0 grade-point average, are successful members on their respective teams and commit themselves to the surrounding community through various outreach programs.

A sophomore from Marshalltown, Iowa, Greer is undecided on her major and holds a 3.47 in her coursework. Greer competed at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 3, helping the team to a fourth place showing over three nationally ranked opponents. Greer ran the 5K race in a time of 18:03. Away from running and school, Greer helps with the Ronald McDonald House Benefit, donating her time and energy to the local organization.

Twaddle is a native of Maryville, Mo., and holds a 3.31 grade-point average in physics. A sophomore on the men's golf team, Twaddle shot a career best 72 at the Nestle Purina Classic in St. Charles, Mo., in 2003. Twaddle is one of 10 Missouri golfers competing in the Missouri Bluffs Challenges hosted by the Tigers in St. Louis both today and tomorrow. Off campus, Twaddle donates his spare time to the Central Missouri Food Pantry.

The MU cross country team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the season's NCAA pre-national meet on Saturday, Oct. 16, while the men's golf team will head to Stanford, Calif., for The Nelson tournament, Oct. 22 and 23.
