Mizzou Women's Cross Country Team Ranked 12th In National Pre-Season Poll

Sept. 9, 2004

On the heels of this weekend's Missouri Cross Country Challenge, the preseason FinishLynx Division I Cross Country Coaches' Poll came out to be what was expected for the Tiger women's team. After ending the 2003 season with a 12th-place national finish, the Mizzou women are ranked exactly at the same 12th-place spot in this, the first week of the national poll.

The Tiger women open the season as hosts of the Missouri Cross Country Challenge to be hosted this Saturday with competition from the Missouri Valley's Southwest Missouri State. The Tigers then follow-up action on September 18th with the Woody Greeno Nebraska Invitational.

The Stanford women, 2003 NCAA Champions, are ranked No. 1 in the poll. The Big 12 has three teams in the top 30 with Colorado on top with a No. 6 ranking, Missouri at No. 12, and Baylor at No. 25.

The next poll will be released on September 20. This week's and future polls can be found at http://www.finishlynx.com/sports/athletics/x_country_poll/2004/04xcprepoll.html.
