Women's Basketball Players Take Part in MDA Telethon

Sept. 6, 2004

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Members of the University of Missouri women's basketball team volunteered their time Monday afternoon as part of the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.

Senior Megan Roney, juniors Cherice Mack and Tonya Morris, and sophomores Blair Hardiek, Tiffany Brooks, and Kacey McFarland helped with registration and worked the phones at Columbia's MDA Telethon headquarters, the Mid-America Harley-Davidson dealership in Columbia.

The telethon, which was first held in 1955 and has been a Labor Day staple since 1966, benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association. MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education.
