Sept. 24, 2004
The Missouri softball team will travel to St. Louis, Saturday, Sept. 25, for the sixth annual wheelchair softball clinic and demonstration. Held on Spirit Field at Spanish Lake, the St. Louis Wheelchair Athletic Association will combine with the Tigers for a noon game time. The wheelchair-accessible Spirit Field was opened in 2002 and funded by the St. Louis Cardinals. Fans are invited to attend the free clinic and support both teams.
The Tigers return to the field after closing the 2004 season with a 29-26 season in which they advanced to the Big 12 Championship game for the first time since 1997. Following their successful regular season, Missouri continued play into the post season, and traveled to Los Angeles for a second consecutive NCAA Regional Championship appearance. Battling at every turn, the Tigers lost both games against Louisville and Mississippi Valley State by one run.
This season, the Tigers will take to the field with seven new faces filling in throughout the lineup. Blending with 13 returning players, Head Coach Ty Singleton is hopeful that his team can push even further into the post-season in 2005.
